My last post I took a look at the Red Sox first half, no I figured I would hand out some awards for the fist half.
AL Cy Young: This one came down to two pitchers, Roy Halladay and Zack Greinke. While Roy may be the best pitcher in the American league, I have to give the Cy Young award to Greinke. A 2.12 ERA with 129 Ks, not to mention 2 complete game shut outs. Greinke has been a very bright spot for a very bad Royals team.
NL Cy Young: Once again this came down to two pitchers, Tim Lincecum and Dan Haren. This one was a little tougher, while Dan Haren's ERA may be a little lower, I am going to give the nod to the reigning NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum. Lincecum has a 10-2 record with a 2.33 ERA and 149 Ks.
AL MVP: There haven't been too many people in the American league to really separate themselves from the pack in the race for AL MVP. So far I would have to give the award to Joe Mauer. Even though he missed a good month of the season Mauer has a .373 batting average with 15 home runs while playing a key defensive postion very well.
NL MVP: This one is a no brainer, it is Manny Ramirez......................Just Kidding. It would have to be the man that is leading the league in Home Runs, RBIs, On Base and Slugging Percentage, not to mention 4th in batting. That man is the reigning NL MVP Albert Pujols. This one appears to be ove
AL Manager of the Year: I think this award goes to Mike Scioscia. Scioscia has led this team to first place despire numerous injuries and the unfortuante death of their young pitcher Nick Adenhart.
NL Manager of the Year: Not many teams can lose a MVP candidate for 50 games and still be the class in the league, yet Joe Torre has lead the Dodgers to the best record in the League despite losing Manny Ramirez for 50 games after testing positive for a banned substance. That's why I am giving this award to Joe Torre.
